Three popular methods to measure wire or cable:

  1. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance of the length of wire. Enter the resistance & wire gauge here for Calculator

  2. Cut a length of wire, weigh it. Weigh the spool using the piece of wire you measured as your multiplier (deduct the spool weight)
